About Halduparao Forest Rest House – Sonanadi Zone

Halduparao Forest Rest House is a rare jewel of Corbett Tiger Reserve, offering an immersive jungle experience within the untouched wilderness of Sonanadi Zone. Located on the banks of the Palain River and surrounded by dense sal forests, this century-old rest house was once used by forest officials and conservationists. Today, it opens its arms to true wildlife lovers who are willing to step off the beaten path and sleep in the heart of tiger territory.

Unlike commercial resorts and noisy zones, Halduparao is far removed from tourist chaos. You reach here only after a thrilling 30–35 km forest drive from Kalagarh or Vatanvasa Gate, crossing streams, muddy tracks, and animal territories. The remoteness of Halduparao ensures that only serious nature lovers and photographers make it this far. If you’re craving silence, the hum of cicadas, and the distant call of barking deer or elephants, Halduparao will soothe your wild soul.

Accommodation & Facilities

The rest house comprises a couple of rooms equipped with basic amenities like beds, attached washrooms, and solar lighting. There is no Wi-Fi, no television, and limited electricity — yet everything you truly need is here: clean air, raw nature, and absolute peace. A forest cook prepares your meals using local ingredients, and you can sit by the porch, sipping tea while watching spotted deer graze nearby.

Wildlife & Jungle Experience

Halduparao is known for its rich wildlife sightings. Tigers, leopards, elephants, wild boars, sloth bears, and several species of deer have been spotted around this forest zone. The nearby Sonanadi river also attracts a variety of birds and small mammals. The zone is part of the larger elephant corridor and birdwatcher’s paradise. Staying here gives you access to sunrise jungle sounds, fresh pugmarks near your doorstep, and the chance to encounter nocturnal wildlife.
